At Magnified Giving, collaboration is more than just a core value—it’s how we amplify our impact. This year, we are thrilled to partner with Adopt A Class to bring philanthropy and service-learning directly to students at Holmes Middle School. Through this partnership, we’re engaging with Ms. Frayser’s class of 29 students from January through May, providing them with meaningful opportunities to learn about nonprofits, serve their community, and ultimately make a real difference.
Each month, Magnified Giving staff bring a hands-on service activity and a nonprofit guest speaker to Ms. Frayser’s classroom. These visits introduce students to a variety of organizations and the real-world challenges they address. So far, students have:
Written letters and cards to veterans to support The Barracks Project.
Packed "shower packs" filled with hygiene essentials for individuals experiencing homelessness, in collaboration with the Emergency Shelter of NKY.
Assembled Teacher Appreciation Bags to support 1N5 and promote mental health awareness for educators.
Through these activities, students aren’t just learning about giving—they’re actively engaging in it. This hands-on approach aligns perfectly with Adopt A Class’s mission to connect students with mentors who broaden their horizons and expose them to future possibilities. It also fulfills Magnified Giving’s goal of empowering youth to become lifelong philanthropists.
As the program wraps up in April and May, students will reflect on their experiences, advocate for the nonprofit they feel most passionate about, and create a poster highlighting the mission of their chosen organization. In the final step of the program, the class will work together to select one nonprofit to receive a $1,000 grant from Magnified Giving, allowing them to take direct action in supporting a cause they care about.
When students realize they have the ability to create positive change, they begin to see themselves as leaders in their community. This program is about more than just giving—it’s about building confidence, compassion, and a sense of purpose. As Magnified Giving’s Program Manager, Becca Freyhof, explains:
"Some of these youth may have received support or resources from their community, and for them to be able to have the power through this program to give back to their community is really impactful. It’s really cool to see them realize they have that power. I think they enjoy that, and we all need their voices out there."
By working together, Magnified Giving and Adopt A Class are equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and compassion to lead with generosity—now and in the future. We can’t wait to see which organization Ms. Frayser’s class selects for their grant and how this experience shapes their philanthropic journeys!
