Mini Cheesecakes Make A Big Impact
September 8, 2021 | Written by Hailey Maier
For the 2021 Magnified Giving Fall Dinner, we are honored to invite a local small business, Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes, to provide over 200 mini cheesecakes for dessert! Not only do we love these sweet cheesecakes, but we love the founder’s heart to serve her community. The founder of Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes, Maggie Neumann, not only whips up the yummiest mini cheesecakes, but she uses her talents and her business to support local nonprofits. Each month, Maggie donates 20% of her profits to a nonprofit, and she has generously selected Magnified Giving as the recipient for September and October!
Maggie is a 2018 graduate of Sycamore High School who has always had a passion for baking, wheelchair dancing, and wheelchair soccer. Maggie has spina bifida, and during the COVID-19 pandemic last June, she struggled to find jobs in kitchens that accommodated wheelchairs. Taking matters into her own hands, Maggie created her own small business where she knew she could easily navigate. Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes runs out of Maggie’s home in Blue Ash with the help of her mom.
One of Maggie’s passions includes giving back to communities. When she started Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes, Maggie knew that she wanted to help the communities that surrounded her as best she could. She came to the conclusion that each month, she would donate 20% of her profits to a nonprofit of her choosing. This passion of giving back was heightened due to COVID-19, where Maggie’s awareness of community struggles with money and resources increased. Magnified Giving is extremely excited to join the ranks of other wonderful nonprofits Maggie has selected to support, including May We Help, Cincinnati Nature Center, Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati, The Lovis Foundation, and more.
Magnified Giving’s mission is to educate, inspire, and engage students in philanthropy, so we are especially touched by the way Maggie models philanthropy for other young people. She is a wonderful example of what it looks like to use your time, talents, and treasure to serve others. She demonstrates that no matter what your talent is, from business acumen to baking cheesecakes, you can use those gifts to make a difference!
“I want to keep baking until the day I die,” Maggie shared. “You don’t have to work in a bakery to sell stuff.” Maggie expressed the challenges of working in a field catered to able-bodied people, “Most bakeries aren’t wheelchair accessible, it makes things difficult.” Maggie’s resilience is unmatched. Not only did she create a space where she can bake, she started a business of her own because her passion for baking was stronger than the inability to find a job she could navigate in. “Now I make cheesecakes for weddings, birthdays, parties, any kind of big event. It’s gone better than we thought it would in the last year and a half.” Maggie’s Marvelous Mini Cheesecakes has gained a large following on social media and in the Cincinnati area!
Maggie says her favorite part of owning her own baking business is interacting with the customers: “I’m a really chatty person and I like meeting new people.” Talking with Maggie is a pleasure, and you can feel her love for her craft when she speaks.
